About Salina J Photography

Hi! My name is Salina, and I am a photographer working in the Minneapolis/St. Paul and southern Minnesota areas. I enjoy meeting new people, and luckily for me, my profession allows me to do that every week, whether I am photographing a newborn, baby, child, family or creating senior pictures. This blog showcases my recent photography, and will help you get to know me and my style of portraits a little better. I am based out of Northfield, but work on-location throughout the Twin Cities (and beyond) or in my studio in Burnsville. I work with my clients to choose the right locations, times and wardrobe pieces to ensure their portraits are beautiful and true reflections of who they are.

And Baby Makes Five – Minneapolis Maternity Photographer

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

When I was pregnant with our last baby, I decided I wanted maternity photos done. With all the other babies, and up to that point in the last pregnancy, I’d just done the self-portrait-in-the-bathroom-mirror thing or maybe asked asked my husband to snap a few shots on a day I wasn’t feeling too huge. So when I was just a few weeks from delivering my friend and fellow photographer Kristin came to our house to do some family portraits and some solo pregnancy photos of me and my belly. I am SO happy to have those photos now, my only regret is that I didn’t do them with the other children! But even having professional maternity photography done with one child will help you remember all of your pregnancies when the children are grown.

I was happy to return the favor for Kristin and her family! They are expecting baby #3 this month, and everyone is so excited. Soon-to-be big sister Paige showed me all of the baby’s gear (that she has appropriated for use by her dolls) and the oldest, Riley, had a big grin every time he talked about the upcoming arrival.

We started the session at the their home for some relaxed photographs, then headed to a family member’s farm. What a gorgeous setting! Rolling pasture, weathered structures, and incredible texture of peeling paint on what I was told is a quonset (I’ll take their word for it!).

Can’t wait to hear that baby #3 has arrived!
