Hi! My name is Salina, and I am a photographer working in the Minneapolis/St. Paul and southern Minnesota areas. I enjoy meeting new people, and luckily for me, my profession allows me to do that every week, whether I am photographing a newborn, baby, child, family or creating senior pictures. This blog showcases my recent photography, and will help you get to know me and my style of portraits a little better. I am based out of Northfield, but work on-location throughout the Twin Cities (and beyond) or in my studio in Burnsville. I work with my clients to choose the right locations, times and wardrobe pieces to ensure their portraits are beautiful and true reflections of who they are.

Sara – Maple Grove 2011 Senior Pictures -Minneapolis, MN

I had a great session with Sara, a gorgeous high school senior at Maple Grove Senior High in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul. She has been very involved with cross country skiing so our first stop was a chalet for some indoor portraits, and then we headed outdoors for some more very chilly pictures. Sara has the (probably unwelcome) distinction of having the coldest session I’ve ever photographed outdoors. While outside it was -6 degrees. Yes, that is negative six, as in six degrees below zero. But Sara was incredible, she just flashed that beautiful smile no matter what.

Courtney in the Snow – Burnsville, MN Child Photographer

Courtney and her mother were kind enough to indulge my desire to photograph a session in the snow, so they drove to Northfield, where I directed Courtney through the downtown and then along a wooded path.

I photographed Courtney for the first time last year, and this winter she was just as wonderful a model. The bright, white snow really makes her ice-blue eyes sparkle! Isn’t she simply stunning?

Thank you, Courtney, you were such a good sport while we traipsed through the cold!

Miss Expressive – Northfield, MN Mini Sessions at Fine Threads – April 2011

Yesterday I went to Fine Threads on Division in Northfield so that I could photograph two babies in some of the adorable clothing offered at the store. I couldn’t resist sharing this one – love her cute expression! She was one happy baby, just a joy.

This portrait of sweet L is an example of what your children’s photographs might look like if you book a mini session at the store! This particular image was created on a white background, but I think I am going to bring a couple of other colors, as well.

Becky Higgins Big Photography Giveaway Video

Last year Becky Higgins posted a call on her blog for photographers who would be interested in giving away sessions to clients all over the country. I thought that sounded like fun – photography is an incredible gift! – and signed up. I had so many deserving entries, I couldn’t choose on my own, so by random number generator my winners were Jessica and Justin, who were about to have their first baby.

I photographed little miss Avery in Minneapolis shortly when she was brand new and enjoyed every minute – some of her portraits are in this post.

Today Becky posted a short video compiling some of the images from the participating photographers from their winning sessions. I somehow missed the video the first time around but wanted to share it here. I loved seeing all of the happy faces from winners everywhere!
