About Salina J Photography
Hi! My name is Salina, and I am a photographer working in the Minneapolis/St. Paul and southern Minnesota areas. I enjoy meeting new people, and luckily for me, my profession allows me to do that every week, whether I am photographing a newborn, baby, child, family or creating senior pictures. This blog showcases my recent photography, and will help you get to know me and my style of portraits a little better. I am based out of Northfield, but work on-location throughout the Twin Cities (and beyond) or in my studio in Burnsville. I work with my clients to choose the right locations, times and wardrobe pieces to ensure their portraits are beautiful and true reflections of who they are.

Today I am showcasing a custom slideshow I created for a recent Twin Cities high school senior who came to me for senior portraits. These slideshows are available to clients who choose my top collection. The slideshow will come on a DVD and can be played on most DVD players and computers.

I am so excited to share this news with all of my past, present and future clients – Salina J Photography now has a studio location in Burnsville, MN!
Located just a 20 minute drive south of Minneapolis, the studio will allow me to hold sessions in natural light or with studio lighting. As a strictly on location photographer it was hard to accommodate clients who were looking for portraits outside of their homes in the winter months (who expects a one year old stand in 20 degree weather and smile?). Now I have the option to bring clients to the studio when the weather is less than ideal. The studio is located in a beautiful building with a parking lot and an elevator, which is a big bonus if you’ve got children with you, in particular. Studio sessions are by appointment only, there are no drop-in hours.
I am still planning to focus on on-location photography, as I love the variety of spaces and textures I can find outdoors, along buildings, and in clients’ homes, so the studio is not replacing my on-location work, just adding a new dimension of convenience for everyone!
There is still work to be done to make the studio more personalized (hanging artwork on the walls featuring my gorgeous clients, for one) but I wanted to share a little sneak peek here. If you are interested in booking a session at the studio, I am now accepting sessions there starting in May. But your on-location session may be scheduled for any time, anywhere!
I am looking for some models for two dates in April to have in the studio.
1. A baby who can sit on his/her own but not yet crawl
2. Young woman, about 18-24 years old

Yesterday I went to Fine Threads on Division in Northfield so that I could photograph two babies in some of the adorable clothing offered at the store. I couldn’t resist sharing this one – love her cute expression! She was one happy baby, just a joy.

This portrait of sweet L is an example of what your children’s photographs might look like if you book a mini session at the store! This particular image was created on a white background, but I think I am going to bring a couple of other colors, as well.
Fine Threads in downtown Northfield, Minnesota is again hosting Salina J Photography’s mini sessions, which will be offered on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at their store. These sessions are only $25 (my normal session is $95), last a convenient 20 minutes, are meant for up to three children (additional children $10 each), and will result in a gallery of at least five portrait images for you to choose from after your session. Prints and digital negatives are additional, but I’ve created special collections just for this event at a discount from my regular prices. Your children will be photographed in the store, against a solid colored backdrop. Have them wear new spring or Easter outfits! I know I am ready for short sleeves and sandals.
