Highlights from 2012 – Minneapolis/St. Paul Photographer

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

I don’t know about you, but I’m having a hard time realizing it’s 2013 already. My head is in denial about the passage of time and most days, when it comes time for me to date something, I start to write August. Just a little behind, there.

Part of the reason time flew so quickly in 2012 is because I had my busiest year as a photographer since opening up shop four years ago. From newborn and maternity photos to sessions with children and their families to high school senior portraits, I met wonderful clients at each one, and it’s been an honor to help tell their stories through photography. I also started working more in commercial and corporate photography, photographing a company’s employee appreciation picnics and the launch of a new company car, shooting cupcakes and treats for a new bakery and creating head shots for business professionals.

I’m looking forward to an even better 2013, filled with more creative opportunities and meeting new people along the way. Here are some of the highlights for Salina J Photography in 2012. You’ll see portraits taken at my studio in Burnsville and on-location in spots found across the Twin Cities and in clients’ homes.

Clients are booking through April now, so if you’re interested in hearing more about my services for your family or your business, contact me at salina@salinajphotography.com. I look forward to hearing your ideas and making the visions come to life.

Alex and Danae – Red Wing, MN Engagement Photos

Monday, June 18th, 2012

On a very cold, windy day I photographed Alex and Danae for their engagement session. They are getting married this September and hadn’t chosen a wedding photographer yet (I don’t offer wedding photography services, but I can refer some wonderful wedding photographers to those who are looking!) but wanted images for their save the date cards. We met in quaint Red Wing, about 45 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul, because the town has history for the couple. We even did some photos in the shopping area where Alex used to work at Godfather’s Pizza, they told me, and the last part of the session was at the boat docks where they’d spent time while they dated.

You’d never know how cold they were from their gorgeous images, but I also think they like the opportunity to stay snuggled together a bit. Best wishes to them as they begin their married life together this fall!

California-Bound – Andrea and Ryan Engagement Session – Minneapolis, MN

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Before the first snowfall of the winter, I met up with Andrea and Ryan in Northfield to take their engagement portraits. Andrea and Ryan are getting married in San Diego next month, and I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding, as well! Their love was evident that night we had their session. Best wishes for a long and happy marriage, Andrea and Ryan!

Love and Family in the Heart of the City

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

I had the pleasure of photographing Kera and Andy’s engagement portraits a few weeks ago at the Heart of the City in Burnsville. Kera and Andy are having a warm-weather destination wedding in January but wanted portraits done in their hometown before the big day. Andy’s children also came along and joined in for some family photographs, as well as some of just the kids.

This session was so much fun (the last shot of the night – last here in the blog post, as well – I’m pretty sure we were all cracking up because it was almost completely dark out and I had a camera in their face as they leaned in for a kiss.  Not exactly the most romantic moment, but they made it look natural)! After the sun went down we took a little break and then came back for some more dramatically-lit night time shots. I told Kera and Andy later that my favorite thing about so many of their images was the way they looked at each other – their love came through loud and clear.
