About Salina J Photography

Hi! My name is Salina, and I am a photographer working in the Minneapolis/St. Paul and southern Minnesota areas. I enjoy meeting new people, and luckily for me, my profession allows me to do that every week, whether I am photographing a newborn, baby, child, family or creating senior pictures. This blog showcases my recent photography, and will help you get to know me and my style of portraits a little better. I am based out of Northfield, but work on-location throughout the Twin Cities (and beyond) or in my studio in Burnsville. I work with my clients to choose the right locations, times and wardrobe pieces to ensure their portraits are beautiful and true reflections of who they are.

Avery at One Year – Northfield, MN Photographer

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

I have been photographing Avery for a year now, documenting her changes as she grew from a little newborn to a walking toddler! During her one year session we also did a few family images, and then when I photographed Avery for her bed image (which we’ve done at every session) I had big sister Quinlynn help me test the light and the resulting was so lovely I just had to share it with her parents, even if it wasn’t a planned portrait.

So enjoyed seeing you grow, Miss Avery!

Wild Will – Lakeville, Minnesota Baby Photographer

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Okay, so Will isn’t a baby I’d classify as wild – in fact, he seems like a very laid-back little guy, but it sounded cute. And he surely is cute – he had just figured out how to make himself mobile in the days before our session at my Burnsville studio, so I had to work quickly to photograph him before he tried to take off!

Love the outtake at the end, I had to share it!

Cousins and Lollipops – Twin Cities, Minnesota Family Photographer

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

This set of cousins (three in one family, two in the other) came to my studio in Burnsville with the goal of getting some group portraits for their grandma. Five kids age six and younger? No problem. Of course, we did have to have an emergency lollipop break after interest in looking at the camera started to wane. But lollipops are never a problem, either!

The first two images I photographed using studio lighting, and the last was with the natural light streaming in through the windows.

Nicholas and Erik – Minneapolis Childrens Portrait Studio

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Nicholas and Erik have the distinction of being the first natural light session held in my new Burnsville studio. They gave me great smiles and eye contact, but toward the end the temptation to act like normal was just too great, and I captured some images of them that reflect what their parents probably see multiple times each day. Having three boys, I am quite familiar with one kid trying to bite the other, who just stands there with a, “What now?” expression. Love when I can share a bit of real life with my clients!
