Way back in May of 2010, Becky Higgins (of scrapbooking and now her own Project Life + general home and creativity blog fame) hosted what she called The Big Photography Giveaway. Photographers from around the country gave away incredible packages. I thought it would be so much fun to participate. So many people wrote when Salina J Photography was featured, I just couldn’t pick on my own, so I chose a random number and that blog entry’s author won.
The winner ended up being a mom-to-be named Jessica. She was so excited to have won the prize to use for a newborn session for her baby girl due in the fall. And I was excited to get to photograph a newborn again.
Baby girl sure made her parents wait – not only did Jessica go past her due date, but even then baby took her sweet time arriving – Jessica spent about three days in labor!
But then little Avery was here, the sweet little one Jessica and her husband Justin had been waiting for. On the day I photographed her, she was just ten days old. She was a marathon sleeper – Jessica and Justin got their apartment nice and toasty and Avery was content to snooze away while we moved her around and I had my camera fixed on her. Hopefully she left some sleepiness for nighttime!
Not only did Jessica and Justin welcome their first child, but that same week they also learned Justin had gotten a job across the country next year after he graduates. Lots of excitement and changes for this young couple, and I wish them all the best as Avery grows and they build their family on the coast.
