Some more portraits from the mini sessions at Fine Threads in downtown Northfield! Norah and Brenden are brother and sister, and little Lucia is their cousin. These sweet kids are the grandchildren of the owner of Fine Threads. She tried to get a portrait with the three of them at the very tail end of their mini session, but as you can see their attention had drifted away from my camera at that point. Even though it’s an outtake, it’s still a great portrait of what life is like with these young ones right now!

Little Cousins – Burnsville, MN Photographer
Monday, May 2nd, 2011Courtney in the Snow – Burnsville, MN Child Photographer
Friday, March 18th, 2011Courtney and her mother were kind enough to indulge my desire to photograph a session in the snow, so they drove to Northfield, where I directed Courtney through the downtown and then along a wooded path.
I photographed Courtney for the first time last year, and this winter she was just as wonderful a model. The bright, white snow really makes her ice-blue eyes sparkle! Isn’t she simply stunning?
Thank you, Courtney, you were such a good sport while we traipsed through the cold!
First Family Portraits – Northfield, MN Photographer
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011When Deb contacted me about family portraits, she said it would be the first time a photographer captured their family, children and parents together. You may recognized the middle girl, Emma, from a previous session I did using off-camera flash. Such a photogenic bunch! Deb also wanted me to create some portraits of their youngest daughter, Olivia, for her third birthday. We took these at the very end of fall, I love the richness of the color in the grasses and trees behind them. Every season in Minnesota offers a great variety in backgrounds – that’s one of the things I love most about doing on-location sessions!
Last Leaves of Fall
Tuesday, November 30th, 2010Yes, Minnesota has already had a few coatings of snow, but with my blog, the golden glow of autumn can last for months!
I photographed this family shortly after the waters flooding the Northfield area receded back to the Cannon River. The area where we did the session was covered in fine sand, left on the ground by the river.
Sara had two main goals in mind when it came time for her family portraits – she wanted one great photograph of everyone together, and she wanted individual pictures of her children, Jack and Lindsay, with their dad, Jason, since he will be deployed next year and it would be great for the kids to have an awesome picture to look at when they were missing him.
I think we accomplished those goals! I wish this family all the best as they head toward months apart – may the time pass quickly and bring Jason home safely!
