About Salina J Photography

Hi! My name is Salina, and I am a photographer working in the Minneapolis/St. Paul and southern Minnesota areas. I enjoy meeting new people, and luckily for me, my profession allows me to do that every week, whether I am photographing a newborn, baby, child, family or creating senior pictures. This blog showcases my recent photography, and will help you get to know me and my style of portraits a little better. I am based out of Northfield, but work on-location throughout the Twin Cities (and beyond) or in my studio in Burnsville. I work with my clients to choose the right locations, times and wardrobe pieces to ensure their portraits are beautiful and true reflections of who they are.

Courtney in the Snow – Burnsville, MN Child Photographer

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Courtney and her mother were kind enough to indulge my desire to photograph a session in the snow, so they drove to Northfield, where I directed Courtney through the downtown and then along a wooded path.

I photographed Courtney for the first time last year, and this winter she was just as wonderful a model. The bright, white snow really makes her ice-blue eyes sparkle! Isn’t she simply stunning?

Thank you, Courtney, you were such a good sport while we traipsed through the cold!

Sisters – Faribault, Minnesota Child Photographer

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

This was my third session with sweet little Avery, now six months old and so changed from when she was a new baby! And since a photographer was coming to the house for their little sister, big sisters Quinlynn and Avery also had portraits done to document their birthdays, which were in December. Being winter in Minnesota, I photographed the sweet sisters in their home so everyone could stay nice and warm.

There is a lot of joy and beauty in these images – enjoy!

First Family Portraits – Northfield, MN Photographer

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

When Deb contacted me about family portraits, she said it would be the first time a photographer captured their family, children and parents together. You may recognized the middle girl, Emma, from a previous session I did using off-camera flash. Such a photogenic bunch! Deb also wanted me to create some portraits of their youngest daughter, Olivia, for her third birthday. We took these at the very end of fall, I love the richness of the color in the grasses and trees behind them. Every season in Minnesota offers a great variety in backgrounds – that’s one of the things I love most about doing on-location sessions!

Goodbye, Minnesota, Hello, Texas! – Northfield, MN Photographer

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

I met Anna when our sons were in an early childhood class together. The boys became good buddies and Anna and I kept in touch even though the kids went to different schools. This fall Anna and her husband, Sean, learned they would be moving to Texas for Sean’s new job as the Director of Education at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. So their family portraits in downtown Northfield held special significance – not only were they getting great photographs to capture their family in 2010, they were saying farewell to the town they’d called home. So we made sure to get at least one good image of them on a familiar corner with the town square in the background.

Best of luck to you, Anna, Sean, Abbi and Ethan! Say hi to Austin for us, we miss it (my first three kids were born there)!
